![]() Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, in addition to products marketed under its own name, Chinon also produced a number of cameras for the companies “Revue” (West Germany), “Prinz” (United Kingdom), and “Argus” (United States). Chinon’s first M42 SLR was the 1966 “Chinonflex,” nothing particularly exciting or innovative for the time. In my opinion, it is the most versatile “classic” M42 camera body.ĭuring the 1970s, Chinon was a relative newcomer to the production of 35mm film SLRs. The 1978 Chinon CE-3 Memotron (aka “Revueflex AC1”) is one of a handful of camera bodies that permit a primitive aperture-priority autoexposure capability with all M42 auto-diaphragm lenses, regardless of manufacturer.
